I CAN DO EVERYTHING

October 26, 2006

As I was reading the daily post on the Laced With Grace site, I found myself remembering things in the past, dangerous to do! I remember reading this passage and praying, begging, hoping that it was true. After 20 years, I can look back and see that, indeed it is true. Having to raise 3 kids by myself, I can see where God had his hand in our lives. If it hadn’t been for my blind faith in God, I shudder to think where we would be today. There were many lean times, questioning times, and just plain wore out times, but he was there. If I were to ask my children today, (20 years later) if they remember the hard times, I doubt that they would call it hard times, they have many good loving memories. For that I am soooo grateful. I didn’t want them to be hurt anymore that possible. God was there for all the small things as well as the biggees. I can honestly say today that my model is:” I CAN DO EVERYTHING THROUGH CHRIST MY SAVIOUR.                                        AMEN

WHAT IS THE SHAPE OF YOUR FAITH

October 19, 2006

Just what is the shape of my faith? This is something that I wonder about. Most times I can say, I have great faith. Other times, especially in hard times, my faith tries to waver. I know now that my faith should be fully grounded in me, deep down in my very soul. But that ole mean man, the devil loves to come creeping into my thoughts, undermining my faith. The great thing about faith is ; it won’t let go of me. In my darkest times, when I doubt the outcome of a situation, or a family member has hurt my heart, that is when I feel the warm fuzzy feeling of secureness. That is when I go to the Lord and pray for his loving hands to envelope me in the biggest bear hug of all. That is where I find the shape of my faith, right there wrapped up in HIM.

bermuda-cruise-april-2004-087.jpgJust when you don’t expect it, when things are going great, BAM ! BAM! Where did that come from? I’m not talking about a major earthquake, but a slam from a “friend” coworker. I work “on the floor” in a salon. The other day out of nowhere this coworker answered my question with the rudest mouth. She was so totally mouthy that it took me by susprise! This kind of talk is supposed to be taken to the back room, but noooo she wanted everybody to hear her. We kinda got into a heated exchange and I was embarased. for myself and our clients. You see she is a bully, just like they have in school, I thought that this kind of thing is what you grow out of??? I have seen and have been subjected to her mouth before and everybody just laughs it off. I personally think that she is degrading and generally just putting people down to make herself look the BIG SHOT.

Well she hit me on the wrong day, I wasn’t feeling good at all and I just wasn’t going to put up with it anymore. Later that day she came to me in the back room, pushed my shoulder and said.” AW quit pouting, and get over it already. Well fire flew into me and I lit into her. I told her that I’m 54 yrs. old and she would not speak to me in that manner. She said that I hurt her feelings last week????? I don’t remember it but I apologized anyway. She mumbled something smart, and then I decided to stand up for my self, and told her that she has no right to talk to me that way, and I would not put up with her mouth anymore. Well that shut her up for the day! Some would say that that was her way of saying I’m sorry, but hey grow up and learn to treat people right. She is not a Christian and she makes it hard for me keep my faith around her, I get sooo mad! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know my God would want me to be humble towards her , but I really feel that He doesn’t want me to be trampled on by her either.

My prayer: Lord help me to keep my faith front and forward in my work place , and give me the strength to show it always. Amen

EARLY HALLOWEEN

October 11, 2006

Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning, groggy, before your first cup of coffee, opening the front bay window curtains…… “what in the world is that man doing taking pictures of my house?”  Oh Oh no, we got TOLIET PAPERED last night! Every where toliet paper, trees, mailboxe, hedges. But to top that off, I had little plastic fork & shaving cream ghosts sticking out of the yard everywhere! ( I think they were ghost, otherwise I shudder to think what they could mean.) Now this is happening at 6:30 in the morning, what a great way to put me in a good mood, and even before my cup of cofee! My husband and I worked for about an hour cleaning up the mess, we even found choclate syrup poured on our front steps. Have you ever tried to take toliet paper down from a tree with a pichfork? Not easy, you see this is biogradeable paper, it tears easily!!  Now I just wait for Halloween, I think I will sit on the front porch with my cup of Joe and WAIT!OUR WORLD

Conservative Friends and Prayer

About Prayer

We know that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.
He knows the challenges we face, and what we need, better than we do ourselves.
We know that God answers all prayers, whether we recognize and understand the answer or not.
For these reasons, many Friends spend most of their prayer and worship time
listening to the Holy Spirit, rather than in specific, detailed prayers of petition.
Many Friends seek through prayer to unite with the will of God, and to embrace His plan for us.

“To be ready to listen means that we are ready to receive whatever God wishes to say.  Yet our hearing is often hindered by presupposition and prejudice. . . If we limit ourselves to what we want to hear, not many of us will hear what we need to hear.  It is critically important that we move past our personal preferences and allow God to say to us whatever He wills. . . As those who would serve God, we have not been asked to serve in ‘an advisory capacity.’  It is our role (and our high privilege) to wait upon His Word and do His bidding, whatever that may be.”1

“When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they  may be seen of men.  Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathens do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.  Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”2

This so sums up my feelings today. We had a big Antique Tractor show scheduled for this weekend. It was a complete washout, a big Nor’easter blew in Friday and Saturday. But God had other ideas. Usually people are outside looking at the tractors, flea market, eating, socializing etc. Instead they had to go to the big building and mingle together. Inside the building was a small tin with a handlettered sign, for any donations for our Amish friends in Pa. Well praise the Lord the club will be sending $5,065 to them! I believe that would not have happened if the ol Nor’easter had not visited us! There is a fund set up for the Amish families, I will post it here in case someone would like to send something.  NICKEL MINE SCHOOL VICTIMS FUND: C/O HOMETOWN HERITAGE BANK,P.O. 337 STRASBURG , PA. 17579

Is’nt it amazing how God will turn this around for the good of his children and show his GLORY?!!!!    amen

PRAYER

October 2, 2006

WHAT IS PRAYER? IS IT THE RITUAL OF REPEATING WORDS ENOUGH TIMES THAT GOD WILL GRANT WISHES? OR IS IT A QUICKIE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNING BEFORE RUSHING OFF TO WORK, OR A SILENT PRAYER BEFORE FALLING TO SLEEP AND NOT FINISHING IT? I DON’T THINK SO. I BELIEVE PRAYER IS A CONSTANT TALKING WITH THE LORD. WALKING, DRIVING, WORKING, PLAYING ANYTHING CAN BE DONE WHILE PRAYING. NOT LIKE CELL PHONES AND DRIVING, PRAYER IS PERFECTLY SAFE TO DO WHILE DRIVING. ACTUALLY LISTENING TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP MUSIC WILL PUT ME IN A PRAYER MOOD ON MY WAY TO WORK. SOMETIMES I DON’T REALIZE THAT THE MUSIC IS LOUD UNTIL I COME TO A STOPLIGHT AND THINK” GEE I BETTER TURN IT DOWN OR THE FELLOW NEXT TO ME WILL THINK I’M CRAZY! I LOVE TO LISTEN TO PRAISE MUSIC IT PUTS A LOVE IN MY HEART FOR THE LORD AND MAKES ME HUMBLE. MY CONSTANT PRAYER NOW IS FOR MY DAUGHTER, I MISS HER AND MY GRANDCHILDREN AND I PRAY THAT SOON WE WILL BE REUNITED. PATIENCE AND PRAYER IS ALL I HAVE AND ALL I NEED!
