When I say… “I am a Christian” I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin.” I’m whispering “I was lost, And now I’m found and forgiven.”

When I say… “I am a Christian” I don’t speak of this with pride. I’m confessing that I stumble, And need Christ to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian” I’m not trying to be strong. I’m professing that I’m weak, And need His strength to carry on.

When I say… “I am a Christian” I’m not bragging of success. I’m admitting I have failed, And need God to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian” I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, So I call upon his name.

When I say… “I am a Christian” I’m not holier than thou. I’m just  a simple sinner who received God’s grace somehow!

I think this says it all.

09621this is my dream for “Jackson”! From what I see of him quick as greased lightening and ready to rock and roll. I really want to train him for the dog docking contest and the agility course.  All of that is down the road but what fun looking forward too! LOL!

I wish this was here, so peaceful, serene, quiet, and at rest. Sadly this is not the day today. My prayer: Lord Jesus quiet my heart, lift my spirits, and assure me of your presence, help me understand the ways of others who have no idea how I feel as a person, a parent, a friend. Let me lean on you. Amen.god3

Walking is the best exercise there is, I just wish it was a little warmer! We took “Jack” on a walk yesterday and today, to get him used to the leach and also people. I thought ” The OC boardwalk is just the thing, maybe there won’t be many people there—WRONG, the place was full”! Everybody that has dogs had the same idea! Well that was good for Jack. He loved it, just can’t figure out why I won’t let him visit longer with the other dogs and people! We walked him to 3rd street and back to the inlet.

Here is the proof of the pudding, that you can wear a dog out! He couldn’t keep his eyes open on the way home, but he tried! LOL!

This is what my heart did this morning! Melted with a quiet drop.

My sweet hubby sent me a dozen red roses at work today. This really wouldn’t be unusual to many because many will get the flowers for Valentines Day, but hubby didn’t think that this was the thing to do. He usually takes me out to dinner or gets me a card. This year he really suprised me big time! The girls at work said my mouth just gaped open. I was flabergasted. When I asked him why, his answer? ” Just because! and because I don’t think I do enough for you”  What???  He is just awesome. I think I’ll keep him!!!! It is really great to have someone think of you first in their lives instead of being a selfish male ego.  Boy, I’ve seen them!!!!

Today was an interesting day. Last night we visited my parents, since my dad has just gotten out of the hospital we decided to ride down and see them. It’s a good thing we did; they were at Witt’s end! The puppy that they got back in Dec. was such a pretty little thing, small, quiet, snugly, beautiful.  Well something has happened since them ; O Boy has it.

This little pup has grown to be a big one and a very “I’m the boss in this house dog!” This has upset them terriblly! They have been used to older docile dogs, and then this one comes in and litterlaly takes over.

I watched him last night go WILD with Mom! The more she corrected him the WILDER he got. When he turned on her; that’s when we decided to step in.  Today we went back with a training collar. Hubby held “class” with them on how to handle a high strung hyper dog. It was so interesting to see “Jug” in the kennel eyeing hubby; as if to say “What do you think you re gonna do with that thing, I can handle you!” When hubby opened the kennel , Jug lunged at him, but he forgot one thing—- he’s only 4 months old and weighs maybe 8lb. Hubby was stronger and meaner than him! When he got the collar on Jug it was if a board had struck that dog. Meek as a mouse, and it wasn’t even on! His expression was;” Wow who is that!”

We quickly found out that he needed only a small amount of correction to get his attention. Mom & Dad were amazed in the transformation of their puppy!

The next thing was leading on a walk. That is very important so that he doesn’t pull and make my parents fall; that would be disaster! It was really good to see Mom & Dad take control of Jug. He really was listening to them. Dad said that was the first time in his life (Jug) that he has sit beside of Dad on the lease quietly. Hurray! Hurray!  Jug got a big treat for that.

We left them with instructions and the collar. It will be fun to hear from them about how good a boy he is.  I sure hope so!

For those of you reading this; don’t be alarmed by a training collar, it is not painful and will not hurt the dog. Some high strung dogs need more that treats to do what they are supposed to do.  Remember: you are the pack leader not the dog! If there is no dominate leader in the household the dog senses this and takes over, that is never a good thing.

Here is our little Jug full of vim and vigor!

Do you know what can really make you feel old?  When your “baby” gets married! Yea I know that it is bound to happen sooner or later but it still hits you right between the eyes. It seems like just yesterday to me that he was a toddler, a teenager, just forever a younin!   I can hear him now, “Ok mom , I grew up a long time ago!”   Yea, Yea, Yea, I hear you, but my heart says different. However I am proud of you and I wish you Melissa many years of happiness and love.  michaels-wedding-023

Wow I can’t believe it , the temperature today is 64 degrees. Boy thats a big change from last week’s temp. of 20 degrees. I love it, and I just hate the cold winter weather. Give me summer anytime! I took advantage of the nice weather to let “Jack” outside. Poor boy he has been inside most of the winter, so it’s good for him to venture outside and see all the boogy men! I took him outside to the kennels and let him inside of one of the runs. He didn’t quite know what to think of that! His “sister” Lucy was next door and he was tickled to see her. This will be good for him when I have to leave him home and don’t want him in the house. Now is a good time to scrub the kitchen floor again. It seem like I do it every other day. Potty training is not my favorite thing. Thank goodness for pittle pads, they work wonders!

This afternoon was training time. I used the garage and Jack and I had a session. He is so smart and quick to catch on. Sit, Stay, Come is coming along nicely. Pulling on the lease is harder, he is in such a hurry! One trick that I taught him-sit, down, roll over is a hoot. He mastered it quickly and then decided that he could cheat by just spinning on my behind! Why not mom? He got me laughing so hard it was so funny!  After a while he figured out that no treat for cheating!  Now all I have to do is point my finger at him, and roll it, and he is down and rolling over- bang bang your dead!!!

He is going to be a perfect dog for us when we are camping; he already loves to ride in the truck, inbetween the seats in his own milk carton. He sits up and props his front feet on the edge and is a happy rider!

On a serious note he will be a welcome extra set of ears for us. We have had some breaking and entering and stealing going on in our neighborhood. Hubby had some power tools stolen out of the shed and someone riffled through his truck. Now my mail was taken out of the box. I ordered 3 books from ebay, when I got them 2 of the hardbound books were gone , but they left the paper one! Wouldn’d you know it they took the 2 cesar milan dog training books that I really wanted. Boy if I see someone in the neighborhood training their dogs, I WILL appear to them!!!jack-jughead-003
